Kurubarahalli R. Saroja, M.D.
Dr. Saroja is board-certified in three specialites: pediatrics, neonatial-
pernatal medicone and radiation oncology.
She began her oncology career as a research associate at the Neutron
Therapy facility at the Fermi National Laboratory in Batavia, Illinois.
Using high energy neutrons generated by a large accelerator, Dr.
Saroja increased the breadth of her knowledge in understanding how
to use different types of radiation to eradicate certain cancers that are
resistant to conventional irradiation. She has published several
scientific papers on the effectiveness of neutron therapy in the
treatment of cancer, and has spoken at numerous international
conferences in Europe, Asia, and North America.
Dr. Saroja is dedicated to the advancement of the art and science of
oncology, and is adept at using the latest technology to plan and
deliver precision radiation to treat a wide range of cancers including
breast, prostate, and head and neck. She is involved in scholarly and
scientific activities, in teaching residents, and serves on several
committees both in the community and at the university level.
Dr. Saroja practices at the NIU Institute for Neutron Therapy at
Fermilab (www.neutrontherapy.niu.edu) and the Berwyn Radiation
Oncology Center.

Anantha K. Murthy, M.D.
Dr. Murthy has special expertise in breast, head and neck cancers, and
lymphomas. He was one of the pioneers of an innovative concept in
cancer treatment that combined chemotherapy and radiation for head
and neck cancers nearly a decade before their use together became
commonplace. Dr. Murthy is also credited with fashioning a radiation
therapy technique for breast cancer.
In addition to these revolutionary procedures, Dr. Murthy also
developed a hyperthermia treatment program for Rush-Presbyterian-
St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, where he has served as
Associate Professor of Rush University.
Dr. Murthy’s personal approach to his patients is one of empathy and
compassion. As a radiation oncologist, Dr. Murthy is both innovative
and imaginative, taking in the latest information and creating
exceptional treatment programs in the relentless battle against cancer.
Dr. Murthy practices primarily at the DuPage Oncology Center in
Winfield, IL, the Berwyn Radiation Oncology Center, and Elmhurst
Memorial Hopsital.

Katherine L. Griem, M.D.
Dr. Griem is a nationally renowned expert in the treatment of breast
cancer and a Fellow of the American College of Radiology. She has
been named one of Chicago’s top doctors.
Dr. Griem was among the first to develop and implement the prone
technique for irradiation of the breast reducing dose to heart and lung.
Among her research interests are cardiac sparing techniques for breast
cancer, partial breast irradiation, and cost benefit analysis.
Dr. Griem’s involvement extends to education and activism. She was
Instructor in Radiation Therapy and Research Fellow at Harvard
Medical School. She has served on the Medical Advisory Board of the
Y-Me National Organization for Breast Cancer. Dr. Griem is on the

D.D. Raj Bendre, M.D.
“A cancer diagnosis is difficult to accept. I approach patients with a
diagnosis of cancer as an educator. Patients who have all the pertinent
information regarding treatment for their specific diagnosis can most
effectively come to terms with the required treatment and can
approach their specific circumstances in a positive and proactive
manner.”
Dr. Bendre, who received the Delnor Community Hospital
Distinguished Physician Award in 2007, has worked at leading
institutions across the country perfecting his radiation therapy
techniques for the treatment of head and neck, gynecological and
prostate cancers. He has given presentations on these and other topics
at meetings of the Radiologic Society of North America, the Los
Angeles Radiologic Society, the San Francisco Cancer Symposium,
among others.
Dr. Bendre’s interests include the use of Intensity Modulated
Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT)
and Radio-Immunotherapy (RIT).
